A wildly theatrical, hilarious and innovative retelling of how a miserable orphan came to be The Boy Who Never Grew Up, Peter and the Starcatcher upends the century-old legend of Peter Pan. Based on the best-selling Disney-Hyperion novel, the play features a dozen actors portraying more than 100 unforgettable characters and uses their enormous talent, ingenious stagecraft and the limitless possibilities of imagination. Don’t miss this epic origin story of one of popular culture’s most enduring and beloved characters and discover the Neverland you never knew.

I laughed. My heart exploded. I was inspired.
Peter and the Star Catcher was my first Broadway (technically Off-Broadway) play in New York City. This play was an exemplar of amazing story telling and it deserved all of the awards it received. PATSC is a prequel of Peter Pan’s story and how his life came to be. Jason Ralph did an excellent job portraying Boy/Peter Pan and I could not take my eyes off of him. His eyes. You could seriously see a lost, angry boy in those eyes. A friend of my told me I would be bawling at the end and while a few tears slipped, I couldn’t actually…cry. Why? I guess I was in some type of trance. The fact that these actors…told THIS story…in such a magnificent way…I just couldn’t be sad. It was beautiful.

The ending. Goodness.

If you’re in New York City, planning to go…please, make it your mission to see Peter and the Star Catcher.

  • LESSONS YOU CAN LEARN FROM MUSICALS

    • Les Miserables:   Stealing a loaf of bread may seem like a good idea, but it will literally fuck up your entire life.
    • Spring Awakening:   If you get laid, you die. If you don't get laid, you die. Also don't trust your parents.
    • Chicago:   It's ok to murder people as long as you wear lingerie and can sing and dance.
    • The King and I:   Racism doesn't count if you sing about it.
    • My Fair Lady:   People will like you if you talk like you have a broom stick up your ass.
    • Hairspray:   In the 60s, people will hate you if you're overweight, UNLESS you also hang out with black people.
    • RENT:   AIDS really blows.
    • A Chorus Line:   If you ever audition for a musical chorus, you better have a goddamn good story as to why you became a dancer.
    • Grease:   If your boyfriend doesn't like you, change absolutely everything about yourself to please him.
    • The Phantom of the Opera:   When choosing between a controlling boyfriend and a sociopath composer with a messed up face who dwells in an opera house's basement, take your sweet damn time.
    • Rocky Horror Picture Show:   Finding refuge from a storm in a mansion who's owner is a transvestite will make you inexplicably horny, and seemingly bisexual.
